Ruby the raccoon loved shiny things. With her clever little paws, she could find anything β€” a glittery button, a lost marble, a silver spoon.

Every night, she brought her treasures back to her tree hollow and piled them up. Her collection grew bigger and bigger.

One night, she found a small red scarf by the creek. It was soft and warm. "Mine!" she said.

The next day, she heard little Sammy Squirrel crying. "I lost my red scarf. Grandma knitted it for me, and now my neck is cold."

Ruby froze. She thought about the scarf in her tree hollow.

She could keep quiet. Nobody would know. But her tummy felt twisty.

That night, Ruby looked at her whole collection. The button might belong to Mrs. Rabbit's coat. The spoon might be Mr. Badger's. Maybe all these things were missing from someone.

So Ruby had an idea. She built a little wooden stand by the big oak tree and hung a sign: LOST AND FOUND. ASK RUBY!

First she brought the red scarf to Sammy. His face lit up like sunshine. "Thank you, Ruby!"

Soon everyone came. Mrs. Rabbit got her button. Mr. Badger got his spoon. Old Owl got his reading glasses back.

Ruby still found shiny things every night. But now the best part was seeing who they belonged to β€” and the happy faces when they came home.
