It was bedtime in the forest, but Hoot the little owl was wide awake. "Let's count until I'm sleepy," said Mama Owl.
ONE big moon, glowing up high.
TWO sleepy bunnies, snuggled in the grass.
THREE hooting owls, calling "Whoo, whoo, whoo!"
FOUR little frogs, croaking by the pond.
FIVE fireflies, blinking on and off.
SIX soft clouds, drifting across the sky.
SEVEN crickets, chirping a lullaby.
EIGHT twinkling stars, winking hello.
NINE whispering trees, swaying in the breeze.
TEN tiny yawns from one little owl... yawn, yawn, yawn, yawn, yawn, yawn, yawn, yawn, yawn, YAWN.
"Goodnight, moon. Goodnight, stars," whispered Hoot. And he fell fast asleep.
