Tara was a little tiger with bright orange fur and black stripes.

Her big brother could ROAR so loud the leaves shook. Her mama could ROAR so loud the birds flew away.

But when Tara tried to roar, it came out as a tiny "mew."

The monkeys giggled. The parrots squawked. Tara hid behind a big fern.

"My roar is too small," she sniffled.

Mama found her. "Your roar is growing, just like you," she said. "Let's practice. Take a big breath, all the way down to your tummy."

Tara breathed in deep. "Roar!" It was a little bigger.

Every day, Tara practiced. She roared at the river. She roared at the rocks. She roared at the moon.

One day, a baby monkey slipped and dangled from a branch high above the river. "Help!" he cried. The other monkeys were too far away to hear.

Tara took a huge breath, all the way down to her tummy, and... "ROAAAAR!"

The whole jungle heard! The monkeys raced over and pulled the baby to safety.

Everyone cheered. "What a roar, Tara!" Tara grinned from whisker to whisker. Her roar had been inside her all along.
